Cutter's Must
If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, seam allowances are not included. Seam allowances: Hem allowance for the garment and sleeve bottom edge – 1.5 cm. Other seams – 1.0 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical details).
- From main fabric:
- Back facing - 1 piece
- Back - 1 piece on fold
- Front - 1 piece on fold
- Front facing - 1 piece
- Sleeve - 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Back facing - 1 piece
- Front facing - 1 piece
Facing trim - a paper pattern piece to control the amount of gathering.
Sewing Instructions
When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
- Fuse interfacing to the facings.
- Stitch side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and serge.
- Stitch shoulder seams of the neckline facings, press allowances open. Serge the outer edge of the facings. Place facings right side down onto the main garment and stitch the neckline edge. Clip allowances at curves, turn facing to the right side, and press.
- Stitch parallel lines on the right side according to the marks, forming a casing.
- Cut a strip 2 cm wide, fold it in half lengthwise and press. Fold the long edges towards the center and press again. Alternatively, you can use ready-made tape 0.5 cm wide. Thread the tape through the casings, gather using the trim pattern piece. Secure the ends of the tape with transverse stitches.
- Stitch sleeve seams, press allowances towards the back and serge. Set sleeves into armholes, press allowances and serge.
- Serge the bottom edge of the garment and sleeves, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
