Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: thin blouse fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. Contrasting fabric for trim. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: Hem allowance – 1.5 cm, other seams – 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

• From main fabric:
  • Back - 2 pieces
  • Front - 1 piece on fold
  • Front neckline facing – 2 pieces
• From contrasting fabric:
  • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
  • Front neckline facing – 2 pieces
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Front neckline facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

1. Fuse interfacing to facing pieces.
2. Stitch the center back seam, press allowances to the left side and overcast.
3. Stitch bust darts, press depths upwards.
4. Overcast the outer edge of the front neckline facing. Place the front neckline facing on the front, right sides together, and stitch the vertical edges of the cutout, clip allowances at corners. Form the first pleats (depths directed away from the center) and stitch the lower edges of the cutout. Turn the facing to the right side, straighten, and press.
5. Stitch the outer part of the front neckline facing to the front from the shoulder seam to the second pleat, clip allowances at the corner, and press towards the facing. Stitch the facing to the vertical edge of the pleat. Form the second pleats (depths directed towards the center). Press the raw edge of the facing to the wrong side.
6. Stitch the outer part of the back neckline facing to the back, press allowances towards the facing.
7. Stitch side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and overcast.
8. Stitch shoulder seams of the inner back and front neckline facings, press allowances open. Place the facings on the blouse, right sides together, and stitch the neckline edge. Clip allowances at curves, turn the facing to the wrong side. Turn under the raw edge of the inner neckline facing to the wrong side and topstitch into the seam of the outer facing. Interrupt stitching at the pleat section and stitch the inner and outer facings together.
9. Cut a bias strip from the main fabric, 4 cm wide and equal to the armhole length. Press the bias strip in half lengthwise, right side out, place it on the armhole edge, right sides together, and stitch. Fold the bias strip to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold.
10. Overcast the hem of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
