FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU ALSO NEED: a concealed zipper; fusible interfacing.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for the dress bottom – 2.0 cm; hem allowance for the sleeve bottom – 1.2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH! ATTENTION! MARKINGS ON THE PATTERNS ARE MADE ON THE RIGHT SIDE.

  • From main fabric:
    • Center back piece - 2 pieces
    • Side back piece - 2 pieces
    • Center front piece - 1 piece
    • Left side front piece - 1 piece
    • Right side front piece – 1 piece
    • Upper center front piece – 1 piece
    • Upper left front piece – 1 piece
    • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
    • Lapel – 1 piece
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Front facing – 1 piece
    • Back facing – 2 pieces
    • Flap – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch the back princess seams. Overlock allowances and press towards the center.
  3. Overlock the center back edges separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the mark to the bottom, press allowances open. Insert the concealed zipper.
  4. Stitch the front princess seams. Overlock allowances and press towards the center. Stitch the upper front pieces along the princess seam. Overlock allowance and press towards the center.
  5. Fold the lapel in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the long step. Trim the allowance at the corner and turn right side out. Press the lapel.
  6. Place the upper front piece onto the right side of the center front piece, inserting the lapel between them. Stitch the pieces. Press the seam allowance downwards. Overlock the attachment area of the upper piece, stepping back 2 cm from the center corner. Secure the side edge of the flap to the side seam of the dress.
  7. Stitch the side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
  8. Stitch the shoulder seams of the facings, press allowances open. Overlock the outer edge. Place the facing onto the neckline, right sides together, and stitch. Trim allowances, clip allowances at corners, turn facing to the wrong side and press.
  9. Overlock the bottom edge of the sleeve. Fold allowance inwards and topstitch. Set sleeves into armholes. Overlock allowances.
  10. Cut a bias strip 4 cm wide and a length equal to the length of the lower part of the armhole + 6 cm. Fold the bias strip in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the bias strip onto the armhole edge, right sides together, extending the ends, and stitch. Turn the bias strip to the wrong side, clip seams, and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam.
  11. Overlock the dress hem allowance, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
