FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: a concealed zipper; fusible interfacing; 9 buttons.
CUTTER'S MUST
IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for the dress bottom – 2.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical details). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH! ATTENTION! MARKINGS ON THE PATTERNS ARE MADE ON THE RIGHT SIDE.
- From main fabric:
- Center back part - 2 pieces
- Side back part - 2 pieces
- Center front part - 1 piece
- Side front part - 2 pieces
- Upper center front part – 1 piece
- Neckline facing front – 1 piece
- Neckline facing back – 2 pieces
- Right placket – 1 piece
- Left placket – 1 piece
- From fusible interfacing:
- Neckline facing front – 1 piece
- Neckline facing back – 2 pieces
- Right placket – 1 piece
- Left placket – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
- Stitch the back princess seams. Overlock allowances and press towards the center.
- Overlock the center back edges separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the mark to the bottom, press allowances open. Insert the concealed zipper.
- Attach the left placket to the upper center front piece. Press allowance towards the placket. Attach the right placket to the center piece. Overlock allowance and press towards the placket. Attach the left upper part to the front piece. Overlock allowance and press upwards.
- Cut a bias strip 2.5 cm wide and 15 cm long for the loop closures. Fold the strip lengthwise in half, right sides together, and stitch 0.3 cm from the fold. Trim allowances close to the stitching, turn the strip right side out and shape the rouleau. Cut loops. Secure the loops by stitching them onto the left princess seam of the front piece. The folds of the loops should face the center.
- Stitch the front princess seams. Overlock allowances and press towards the center.
- Stitch the side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the facings, press allowances open. Overlock the bottom edge. Place the facing and neckline right sides together and stitch. Trim allowances, clip allowances at the corner, turn the facing to the wrong side and press.
- Finish the armholes in two steps: first the back armhole, then the front armhole.
- Overlock the hem allowance of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
- Sew on decorative buttons.
