Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are sewn with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim SEAM ALLOWANCES to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also sew pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch darts on BACK PANEL pieces. Press dart depths towards the center seam. Stitch upper and lower BACK PANEL pieces. Finish and press SEAM ALLOWANCE upwards. Finish center seams of the BACK PANEL separately. Stitch the BACK PANEL seam from the ZIPPER mark to the bottom. Insert the ZIPPER.
  2. Stitch darts on FRONT PANEL and bolero pieces. Trim dart depths with an overlock machine.
  3. Clip bolero SEAM ALLOWANCES at the vertical neckline NOTCHES. Bind the lower edges of the right and left bolero with a TRIM STRIP. Place the bolero right side up on the FRONT PANEL, aligning the neckline edges. Secure the pieces at the side, armhole, and neckline edges. Stitch shoulder seams. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL and finish. Bind the neckline edge, starting and ending in the section between the boleros. Bind the upper edges of the bows.
  4. Attach the bolero along the vertical lines with machine stitching. Stitch the center edges of the bows. Flatten the bow and attach it to the FRONT PANEL with blind stitches.
  5. Cut a bridge 6 cm long and 3 cm wide. Bind the long edges with a TRIM STRIP. Secure the bow with the bridge, covering the junction of the neckline binding.
  6. Set the SLEEVES into the open armhole, aligning the NOTCHES. Press and finish SEAM ALLOWANCES. Bind the lower edge of the SLEEVE with a TRIM STRIP. Stitch the side seam simultaneously with the SLEEVE seam. Press and finish SEAM ALLOWANCE.
  7. Finish the hem allowance of the dress, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
