Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the corresponding pieces.
  2. Stitch the princess seams on the upper BACK PANELs, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the center, serge, and topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam. Attach the BACK PANEL insert to the upper BACK PANEL, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the insert, serge, and topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam.
  3. Stitch the princess seams on the lower BACK PANELs, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the center, serge, and topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam. Attach the lower BACK PANEL to the BACK PANEL insert, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the insert, serge, and topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam.
  4. Serge the center back edges separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the mark to the lower edge. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES open, pressing the slit for the ZIPPER. Insert the ZIPPER.
  5. Stitch the princess seams on the upper FRONT PANELs, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the center, serge, and topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam. Attach the FRONT PANEL insert to the upper FRONT PANEL, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the insert, serge, and topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam.
  6. Stitch the princess seams on the lower FRONT PANELs, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the center, serge. Attach the lower FRONT PANEL to the FRONT PANEL insert, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the insert, serge, and topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam.
  7. Stitch shoulder and side seams, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL and serge.
  8. Stitch the shoulder seams of the FACINGs. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Serge the outer edge of the FACINGs. Place the dress and FACING right sides together, aligning the neckline edges. Stopping 5 mm before the edges of the invisible ZIPPER, fold back the FACING and pin it to the upper edge of the dress. On the right side of the dress, fold back the SEAM ALLOWANCES along the ZIPPER and pin them to the neckline edge over the FACING. Stitch the neckline edge. Clip the seam allowances at curves, turn pieces right side out, and press. Topstitch the seam allowances to the FACING. Secure the FACING to the ZIPPER tape and to the shoulder seams.
  9. Cut a BIAS BINDING 4 cm wide and a length equal to the lower SLEEVE edge + 4 cm. Fold the BIAS BINDING in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the lower SLEEVE edge, right sides together, and stitch. Fold the binding to the wrong side, clip the seams, and topstitch along the fold to the SLEEVE. Press the seam. Set the SLEEVEs into the armholes.
  10. Cut a BIAS BINDING 4 cm wide and a length equal to the lower armhole part + 6 cm. Fold the BIAS BINDING in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge, right sides together, leaving tails, and stitch. Fold the binding to the wrong side, clip the seams, and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  11. Serge the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
