Sewing Instructions
- Fuse fusible interfacing to facing pieces.
- Stitch the princess seams on the upper back and front pieces. Press seam allowances towards the center of the pieces. On the front, create and secure pleats according to markings (depths directed away from the center). Stitch the right side seam, press seam allowances open. Process the lining pieces similarly.
- Place the lining with the upper of the dress, and stitch the armhole edges. Clip the seam allowances at curves, turn the pieces right side out, and press. Secure the pieces along the neckline edges.
- Serge the center seam of the center lower back separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the upper edge to the slit mark, press seam allowances open. Stitch the princess seams on the lower back and front pieces. Press seam allowances towards the center of the back and front respectively, and serge.
- Attach the lower back to the insert, press seam allowances upwards and serge. Attach the lower front to the insert, press seam allowances upwards and serge. Stitch the right side seam, press seam allowances towards the back and serge. Attach the upper of the dress to the lower, press seam allowances downwards and serge.
- Serge the left side seams separately, stitch from the zipper mark downwards. Press seam allowances open. Insert the zipper. Fold the ends of the zipper tape at the armhole inwards and hem.
- Stitch the shoulder seams of the facings, press seam allowances open. Place the facings right sides together and stitch the lower edge. Clip the seam allowances at curves, turn the piece right side out, and press. Clip the upper seam allowance near the notches, place the outer facing with the wrong side of the garment and attach the facing to the neckline. Press seam allowances towards the facing. Clip the raw edges of the facing at curves, fold inwards and topstitch them together in a circle, after folding the dress away. Turn the facing to the wrong side and secure to the front and back with a few stitches.
- Serge the hem allowance of the dress, press to the wrong side and hem with blind stitches.
- Fold the belt in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch along the long and short sides, leaving an opening for turning. Turn the belt right side out, press. Topstitch around the perimeter at 0.2 cm.
