Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted sheath shaped by vertical seams joining the centre front and centre back panels to contrast side panels.

Length: Just above the knee.

Neckline: Round neckline. The upper front of the main fabric is turned under along a shaped edge and topstitched onto a guipure insert, leaving the lace visible at the shoulders; the upper back is joined to a guipure insert in the same way. The neckline is faced with the guipure.

Sleeves: Set-in guipure sleeves below the elbow, with a slit at the hem bound in bias cut from the main fabric and closed with a loop and button; hem turned twice and topstitched.

Sewing Instructions

Stitch shoulder seam allowances of the front and back inserts. Press seam allowances towards the back and serge. Serge the lower edge of the front insert.
Stitch shoulder seam allowances of the upper front and back. Press seam allowances towards the back. Place the guipure lace right side up on the upper front, wrong side down. Stitch the neckline, stopping 1 cm before the center back seam line. Clip seam allowances, turn the guipure lace to the wrong side and press.
Clip the corner on the upper front. Fold the outer edges inwards and press. Topstitch the upper parts along the markings onto the guipure lace insert 0.1-0.2 from the edge.
Attach the upper back to the center back. Press seam allowance downwards. Attach the lower front to the front. Serge and press seam allowance downwards.
Attach the side panels to the front and back, clipping the seam allowance at the corner. Serge and press seam allowances: horizontal edge — upwards, vertical — towards the center.
On the left back, cut 5 cm along the vertical slit edge. On both back pieces, reinforce the slit with fusible interfacing on the wrong side. On the right side, mark the center seam line (slit fold line). Press the left along the slit fold line; on the right, press only the seam allowance of the right side of the slit (6 cm) to the wrong side. Align the pieces along the center seam and secure at the upper edge of the slit. Serge the center back edge separately on each piece, only on the main upper fabric. Serge the slit seam allowances. Stitch the center back edge from the zipper mark to the slit corner. Clip the corner of the slit seam seam allowance on the right. Press the center seam seam allowances open, press the slit seam allowances and secure them on the right side with machine stitching.
Insert the zipper. Attach the guipure lace to the neckline area. Fold the guipure lace inwards and hand stitch the seam allowances to the zipper.
Stitch the side edges. Serge and press seam allowances towards the back.
Make a cut on the sleeve according to the marked shape. Cut a bias binding from the main upper fabric, 4 cm wide, with a length equal to twice the cut length + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise and press. Press the outer seam allowances towards the center. Finish the sleeve cut with the bias binding. Stitch the sleeve edge. Serge and press seam allowance towards the back. Set the sleeve into the armhole, aligning notches. Serge seam allowance. Fold the bottom of the sleeve twice by 1 cm and topstitch. At the end of the cut, make a loop and sew on a button.
Serge the bottom edge of the garment. Fold the seam allowance to the wrong side, press and topstitch.
