Additional Supplies

  • 7 buttons
  • Elastic, 1 cm wide (approximate length for each shoulder is marked on the flounce pattern piece)
  • Fusible interfacing for the placket

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
    1. Center Back – 2 pieces
    2. Side Back – 2 pieces
    3. Center Front – 2 pieces
    4. Side Front – 2 pieces
    5. Flounce – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    1. Placket – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse the interfacing (Placket) to the cut-on placket area of each Center Front.
  2. Stitch the princess seams on the front and back. Finish seam allowances and press towards the center. Stitch the center back seam. Finish seam allowances and press to the left side. Stitch the side seams. Finish seam allowances and press towards the back.
  3. Fold the cut-on placket to the wrong side, turn the seam allowance under, and topstitch 0.2 cm from the edge.
  4. Cut bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 6 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding on the right side of the armhole, raw edges aligned, leaving tails, and stitch. Turn the binding to the wrong side, clip the seam allowances, and topstitch along the fold to the garment. Press the seam. Finish the upper seam allowances of the front and back.
  5. Finish the long edges of the Flounce with a rolled hem. Along the marked line, stitch with a loosened thread. Fold the Flounce along this stitching and gather it. Place the Flounce right side down on the wrong side of the blouse and stitch it to the upper edge along the gathering line. Turn the Flounce to the right side. Stitch the short ends of the Flounce. Stitch the elastic in the shoulder area (approximate length per shoulder is given on the Flounce pattern). Turn the Flounce downwards and stitch a securing line 1 cm from the top, stretching the elastic at the gathered section.
  6. Finish the bottom edge of the garment. Fold the seam allowance to the wrong side, press, and topstitch.
  7. Make buttonholes on the right front and sew buttons on the left front.
