Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • 1. Center back with flounce - 1 qty
  • 2. Side back with flounce - 2 qty
  • 3. Lower back with flounce - 1 qty
  • 4. Lower front - 1 qty
  • 5. Side front - 2 qty
  • 6. Center front - 1 qty
  • 7. Flounce – 2 qty

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch along the neckline of the front between the notches with loosely tensioned stitches and gather slightly. Stitch the right shoulder seam allowances of the center back and front, press seam allowances towards the back and serge. Cut a bias binding equal to the length of the back and front neckline + 5 cm. Press the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, unfold, fold the longitudinal edges to the middle and press again. Finish the neckline edge with bias binding. Stitch the left shoulder seam allowances of the center panels, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
  2. Stitch the shoulder seam allowances on the side back and front, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
  3. Cut a bias binding 4 cm wide and equal to the length of the outer edge of the flounce + 3 cm. Press the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, unfold, fold the longitudinal edges to the middle and press again. Finish the outer edge of the flounce. Alternatively, the outer edge of the flounce can be serged with a narrow rolled hem.
  4. Stitch the center and side back and front, inserting the flounce between them. Press seam allowances towards the center, serge.
  5. Cut a bias binding 4 cm wide and equal to the armhole length + 5 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the bias binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Clip the seam allowances. Fold the bias binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  6. Serge the left side seam allowances of the upper separately. Stitch the left side seam from the armhole to the first notch. Press seam allowances open. Stitch the right side seam of the upper, press seam allowances towards the back and serge. Bar tack the side seams at the armhole level.
  7. Serge the left side seam allowances of the lower separately. Stitch the left side seam from the zipper notch downwards. Press seam allowances open. Stitch the right side seam of the lower, press seam allowances towards the back and serge. Stitch along the upper edge with loosely tensioned stitches and gather.
  8. Attach the lower to the upper, press seam allowances upwards and serge.
  9. Insert the zipper into the left side seam.
  10. Cut a piece of elastic tape equal to the waist circumference and topstitch it, stretching, to the seam allowances where the upper and lower parts are joined.
  11. Press the hem of the garment to the wrong side by 1 cm, then by another 2 cm and topstitch.

Tip: The dress is recommended to be worn with a belt.
