When To Wear

In summer, on its own with sandals.
In cooler weather over a long-sleeved top, with tights.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Volume above the seam line, close-fitting below it.

Length: Short, above the knee.

Neckline: Wide neckline turned in to form a casing, with 1.5 cm elastic threaded through to gather front and back.

Sleeves: Short, wide sleeves cut in one with the upper front and back; the side seams are stitched only up to the mark, and the sleeve edges are turned in and topstitched.

Waist: Horizontal seam joining the upper parts (main fabric) to the lower parts (companion fabric), allowances pressed downwards.

Back: Upper back cut on the fold; lower back in two pieces with a centre back seam.

Finishing: Hem overlocked, turned to the wrong side and topstitched.

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: Neckline hem allowance – 2 cm, bottom hem allowance — 1.5 cm, other seams – 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

From main fabric:
- Upper Back – 1 piece on fold
- Upper Front – 1 piece on fold
From companion fabric:
- Lower Front – 1 piece on fold
- Lower Back – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

Stitch the center back seam of the lower backs.
Attach the lower front and lower back to the upper front and upper back. Serge the allowances and press them downwards.
Stitch the shoulder seams. Serge the allowances and press them towards the back. Serge the side edges and sleeve edges in one continuous pass: along the front side edge, the front sleeve hem, the back sleeve hem and the back side edge. Stitch the side seams from the bottom to the mark. Fold the sleeve hem allowances inwards and topstitch.
Serge the neckline allowance, fold it inwards and topstitch to form a casing, leaving an opening. Thread the elastic through the casing and secure the ends.
Serge the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
