Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. Also needed: lace trim 3 cm wide; concealed zipper, fusible interlining.

CUTTER'S MUST

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: hem allowance for the dress bottom – 3.0 cm; slit allowance – 6 cm; other seams 1 cm; ATTENTION! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

  • From main fabric:
    • Upper front part - 2 pieces
    • Lower front part - 1 piece
    • Back - 2 pieces
    • Back facing - 2 pieces
    • Front facing – 1 piece
  • From fusible interlining:
    • Back facing - 2 pieces
    • Front facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  1. Reinforce facing pieces with fusible interlining.
  2. Stitch darts on the back and front pieces, press the seam allowances towards the center of the respective pieces.
  3. On the left back piece, along the vertical edge of the slit, cut 5 cm. On both back pieces, reinforce the slit from the wrong side. On the right side, mark the center seam line (slit fold line). Press the left part along the slit fold line, on the right part, press only the right slit allowance (6 cm) to the wrong side. Align the pieces along the center seam and secure at the upper edge of the slit. Overcast the center back edge separately on each piece. Overcast the slit allowances. Stitch the center back edge from the zipper mark to the slit corner. Clip the corner of the slit seam allowance on the right part. Press open the center seam allowances, press the slit allowances and secure them on the right side with machine stitching. Insert the zipper.
  4. Attach the upper front part to the lower, press seam allowances upwards and overcast.
  5. Stitch side and shoulder seams, press seam allowances towards the back and overcast.
  6. Stitch side and shoulder seams of facings, press seam allowances open. Overcast the lower edge of the facings. Place facing pieces right sides together with the garment and stitch the neckline edge of the front and back. Stitch the armhole in two steps: first the back armhole, then the front armhole. Topstitch the seam allowance to the facing 0.2 cm from the seam. Turn the facing to the wrong side and press. Attach the center edge of the facing to the zipper allowance.
  7. Overcast the bottom edge of the garment. Fold to the wrong side, press and hem with blind stitches.
  8. Topstitch lace onto the front neckline.
