Zipper in the left side seam. Drafted to your own measurements. Recommended fabric: suiting fabrics that drape well, in natural or blended fibres.

When To Wear

With a fitted top or blouse tucked in, so the waistband and pointed yoke stay visible.
For evenings out and events in spring and autumn.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted through the waist and hips by the yoke, flaring from the yoke seam to the hem.

Length: Long; at the front the hem rises where the two front panels separate.

Waist: Deep shaped waistband cut double: the outer and inner parts are both interfaced, and the inner part works as a facing, hand-sewn to the zipper tape and stitched in the ditch of the waistband seam. Topstitched 0.5 cm from the upper edge and from the waistband seam.

Skirt: Front yoke with a point at the centre front; right and left front panels attached to the yoke and joined to each other below the point for a short section only, so they hang in a cascade. Back yoke straight, with a one-piece back panel.

Closure: Zipper in the left side seam.

Finishing: Seams pressed open and overlocked; 1.5 cm hem overlocked, turned up and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Setting the front panels into a pointed yoke with clipped seam allowances, a faced double waistband and a side zipper with the facing finished by hand.

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance 1.5 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match! All inscriptions on the patterns are made on the right side!

From main fabric:

From fusible interlining:
- Upper front

Sewing Instructions

Fuse the upper front and upper back with fusible interlining.
Stitch the fused upper back to the yoke. Press seam allowances towards the upper.
Stitch the back yoke to the back. Press the seam towards the yoke and overlock.
Stitch the fused upper front to the yoke. Press seam allowances towards the upper.
Stitch the right front skirt to the front yoke. Clip seam allowances near the mark, press towards the yoke and overlock. Stitch the left front skirt to the front yoke. Clip seam allowances near the mark, press towards the yoke and overlock. Stitch the free section of the left and right front panels. Press seam allowances open and overlock.
Stitch the right side seam of the skirt. Press seam allowances open and overlock. Topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam attaching the upper front and back panels. Stitch the left side seam from the zipper mark downwards. Press seam allowances open, pressing the slit for the fastener, and overlock. Insert the zipper.
Stitch and press open the right side edge of the upper back and front panels (hereinafter referred to as facings). Overlock the lower edge of the facings.
Place the facings and skirt right sides together and stitch the upper edge. Turn the facings to the wrong side, baste and press. Fold the side edges and hand-stitch to the zipper tape. Topstitch 0.5 cm from the edge along the upper edge. Stitch the overlock edge of the facings into the seam attaching the upper back and front panels.
Overlock the lower edge of the skirt, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
