Introducing a sophisticated women's sewing pattern for a boat-neck dolman sleeve dress, featuring a flattering banded waist and elegant elasticated cuffs.
This versatile dress is perfect for a variety of occasions, offering comfort and style for:
Silhouette: a fitted straight silhouette that skims the body, providing comfort without sacrificing shape.
Neckline: a wide, elegant boat neckline that gracefully frames the collarbone.
Sleeves: Integrated dolman sleeves, finishing at a three-quarter length with elasticated cuffs for a gentle puff effect.
Waist: a distinct, wide horizontal band cinches the waist, creating a flattering, defined silhouette.
Back: Features a clean, fitted back with a center seam and a waist-defining band.
Hem: a straight hem falling to knee length.
Intermediate. Requires experience with knit fabric construction, including panel seaming and creating elastic casings.
Select knit fabrics with medium stretch for the best drape and fit:
If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, seam allowances are not included. Seam allowances: Hem allowance – 2 cm, sleeve hem and neckline allowance - 1.5 cm, other seams 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.
