Introducing a women's sewing pattern for an elegant knit dress featuring sophisticated side ruching and a delicate tie detail that accentuates the waist.
This versatile knit dress is perfect for various occasions, offering comfort and style:
Silhouette: a fitted, knee-length sheath silhouette that subtly skims the body.
Neckline: a classic, gently rounded scoop neckline.
Sleeves: Comfortable three-quarter length set-in sleeves.
Front Detail: Features artful side ruching on the bodice, gathered towards the waist, creating a flattering texture.
Waist: Defined with a horizontal seam and cinched by a decorative satin ribbon tie on the left side.
Back: Designed with an upper and lower back panel, featuring a central seam on the upper back for shaping.
Hem: Straight hemline finishing just above the knee.
Intermediate. Requires working with knit fabrics, gathering techniques, and precise seam construction with ribbon insertion.
Select well-draping knit fabrics with medium stretch to achieve the desired silhouette and drape:
If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: Hem and sleeve hem allowance – 1.5 cm, back and front neckline allowance – 1.5 cm, other seams 0.7 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match! Inscriptions on the patterns are on the right side.
Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is stitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.
