Collared Ruffle Placket Puffed Sleeve Dress

• From fusible interfacing:
  • Placket – 2 pieces
  • Upper Collar Stand – 1 piece

Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the plackets and the upper collar stand.
2. Stitch darts on the front. Press dart allowances downwards.
3. Finish the outer edge of the ruffle with a rolled hem. Along the inner edge, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Attach the ruffle to the front. Fold the plackets in half lengthwise and attach to the front. Clip the front at the corners according to the mark. Turn the placket allowances inwards and secure from the inside with a stitch. Serge the allowances of the placket, ruffle, and front simultaneously and press. Topstitch along the placket on the right side, 0.1 cm from the seam.
4. Stitch the center back seam. Serge the seam and press to the left side. Stitch the shoulder seam. Serge the seam and press towards the back.
5. Stitch the side seam. Serge the seam and press towards the back.
6. Place the upper collar and lower collar right sides together. Stitch the ends and the outer edge of the collar. Trim the seams. Turn the collar right side out, shape, and press. Place the collar stand pieces right sides together, insert the finished collar between them, align the notches, and stitch, simultaneously stitching the ends of the collar stand. Start and end the stitching precisely at the marked line of the collar stand attachment seam. Turn the finished collar right side out and press. Attach the upper collar stand with the collar to the neckline, turn under the open edge of the lower collar stand, and topstitch into the seam of the upper collar stand attachment. Topstitch along the collar and collar stand.
7. Along the upper edge of the sleeve between the round marks, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Stitch the sleeve seam. Serge the allowances. Stitch the cuff into a loop. Turn right side out, fold in half lengthwise, and attach to the sleeve. Set the sleeves into the armholes, serge the seam, and press.
8. Serge the bottom edge of the garment. Fold to the wrong side, press, and topstitch.
9. On the right placket, mark and stitch buttonholes; sew buttons onto the left placket.
