Pattern #4040
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: well-draping knit fabric with medium stretch from natural or blended fibers. Also needed: satin ribbon 2 cm wide (length indicated on the front pattern piece).

CUTTER'S MUST

If the patterns have a double contour, they include SEAM ALLOWANCES. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: Hem and sleeve hem allowance – 1.5 cm, back and front neckline allowance – 1.5 cm, other seams 0.7 cm. ATTENTION! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the NOTCHES - they must match! Inscriptions on the patterns are on the right side.

  • From knit fabric:
    • Upper back part – 2 pieces
    • Lower back part – 1 piece
    • Side front part – 1 piece
    • Upper front part – 1 piece
    • Lower front part – 1 piece
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces

Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is stitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the center back seam. Overlock and press the seam.
  2. Cut the satin ribbon in half. Fold one end twice inwards by 0.3-0.5 cm and stitch. Along the front princess seam, make a gathering stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather from the "arrow" mark to the bottom. Stitch the front princess seam, inserting the ribbon into the seam. Overlock and press the seam towards the side part.
  3. Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the upper back and front, inserting the ribbon into the left side seam. Overlock and press the allowances towards the back.
  4. Stitch the lower back and front parts. Press the allowances towards the back and overlock.
  5. Stitch the upper and lower parts of the dress. Overlock and press the seam upwards.
  6. Stitch the sleeve seams. Press and overlock the allowances.
  7. Set in the sleeves into the armholes, easing the sleeve cap and matching the notches. Press and overlock the allowances.
  8. Overlock the bottom edge of the garment and the sleeve hem. Fold to the wrong side, press, and stitch.
  9. Overlock the neckline edge, fold to the wrong side, and stitch.
