Fabric & Materials
Fabric recommendations: dense fabrics made from natural or blended fibers, artificial or genuine leather. Also needed: fusible interfacing; lining fabric; decorative handle, snap fastener.
CUTTER'S MUST
If the patterns have a double contour, they include SEAM ALLOWANCES. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1cm. Top edge of divider pocket 2 cm. ATTENTION! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).
- From main fabric:
- Main part – 4 pieces
- Side part – 1 piece
- Facing – 1 piece
- Facing lining – 1 piece
- From lining fabric:
- Main part lining – 2 pieces
- Side part lining – 1 piece
- Pocket – divider – 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Main part, side part, facing, facing lining.
Sewing Instructions
When stitching pieces, pay attention to the NOTCHES - they must match!
- Fuse the main part, side part, facing, and facing lining with fusible interfacing.
- Stitch the center seam of the main part. Turn seam allowances to the left side and stitch two parallel lines at 0.1 and 0.5 cm from the seam.
- Attach the main parts to the side part. Turn seam allowances towards the side part and topstitch with two parallel lines at 0.1 and 0.5 cm from the seam.
- Along the top edge of the bag, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches. Gather the fabric.
- Cut out zipper flaps from lining, 4 cm long and 2 cm wide. Fold the seam allowance of the top edge of the divider pocket to the wrong side, turn inwards, and topstitch. Fold the flaps in half crosswise and place them on the zipper from both sides. Place the divider pocket pieces on the zipper so that the lining does not cover the zipper teeth, and topstitch.
- Stitch the straight edges of the lining, inserting the divider pocket and leaving an opening for turning later. Along the top edge of the lining, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches. Gather the fabric.
- Install a snap fastener on the facing lining. Stitch the side edges of the facing lining. Place the facing and facing lining right sides together and stitch along the top edge. Trim seam allowances, turn the facing right side out. Along the top edge, stitch decorative lines at 0.1 cm and 0.5 cm.
- Attach the bag to the facing. Attach the lining to the facing lining.
- Turn the bag right side out. Stitch the opening closed. Install eyelets in the bag facing. Attach the handle to the eyelets.
