V-Front Single Strap Handbag

Pattern #3009
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dense fabrics made of natural or mixed fibers (corduroy, suiting fabric). Also needed: fusible interlining; lining fabric; 2 invisible zippers.

CUTTER'S MUST

If the patterns have a double contour, they include SEAM ALLOWANCES. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1cm. ATTENTION! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

  • From main fabric:
    • Main part – 2 pieces
    • Upper part – 2 pieces
    • Strap – 1 piece
  • From lining fabric:
    • Lining for main part – 4 pieces
  • FROM FUSIBLE INTERLINING: Main part, upper part, strap.

Sewing Instructions

When stitching pieces, pay attention to the NOTCHES - they must match!

  1. Fuse the main part, upper part, and strap with fusible interlining.
  2. Fold the strap in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch along the long edge. Turn the strap right side out and press. Stitch 0.2 cm from the edge. Fold under the seam allowances of the short sides and topstitch onto the main parts of the bags.
  3. Place the main part and lining right sides together, inserting the zipper between them. Stitch as close as possible to the zipper teeth. Insert the other side of the zipper between the upper part and the lining of the main part. Repeat the same operation with the second main part and zipper.
  4. Stitch the bottom edges of the upper parts.
  5. Stitch the side edges of the lining and upper part from the bottom to the zipper. Stitch the side seam from the top to the second mark, flattening the zipper.
  6. Stitch the bottom edges of the main parts. Fold the corner of the bag so that the side and bottom seams are aligned. Stitch across the side and bottom seams.
  7. Stitch the bottom edges of the main part lining, leaving an opening for turning. Fold the corner of the bag so that the side and bottom seams are aligned. Stitch across the side and bottom seams.
  8. Turn the bag right side out through the opening. Stitch the opening closed.
