Pattern #2881
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: well-draping dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing, concealed zipper.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THE PATTERNS INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

Sewing Instructions

  1. Interface the pieces with fusible interfacing.
  2. Stitch darts on back pieces, press depths towards the center. Serge the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the top to the upper zipper mark and from the lower zipper mark to the bottom. Press seam allowances open. Insert the zipper.
  3. Fold plackets right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Clip seam allowances, turn pieces right side out and press. Attach the outer placket to the front. Fold the seam allowance of the inner placket inwards and topstitch into the seam of attaching the upper placket.
  4. Stitch darts on the lower front part. Press depths towards the center. Stitch the upper and lower front parts together. Serge seam allowances and press upwards.
  5. Stitch side and shoulder seams. Press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
  6. Fold the upper collar with the lower collar right sides together, stitch the ends and the outer edge of the collar. Trim seams, turn collar right side out, shape and press. Fold collar stand pieces right sides together, insert the prepared collar between them, align notches and stitch, simultaneously stitching the ends of the collar stand. Start and end stitching strictly at the marked seam line of attaching the collar stand. Turn the prepared collar right side out and press. Attach the upper collar stand with the collar to the neckline, fold the open edge of the lower collar stand inwards and topstitch into the seam of attaching the upper collar stand.
  7. Stitch the sleeve seam. Serge seam allowances and press towards the back.
  8. Fold cuff pieces in pairs right sides together and stitch the side and long edges. Start and end stitching strictly at the marked line of attaching the cuff. Trim seam allowances, turn right side out and press. Attach the outer side of the cuff to the sleeve. Fold the seam allowance of the inner side to the wrong side and topstitch into the attaching seam. Turn the cuff upwards.
  9. Serge the bottom edge of the garment. Fold the allowance to the wrong side and topstitch.

TIP: The dress is recommended to be worn with a belt.
