CUTTER'S MUST
IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; upper pocket edge allowance – 2 cm; hem allowance — 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!
- From main fabric:
- Upper back part - 1 piece
- Lower back part – 2 pieces
- Central front part - 2 pieces
- Side front part – 2 pieces
- Lower front part - 2 pieces
- Pocket — 2 pieces
- Front facing — 2 pieces
- Back facing — 1 piece
- Strap — 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Front facing — 2 pieces
- Back facing — 1 piece
- Strap — 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
- Interface the pieces with fusible interfacing.
- Stitch the center seam of the lower back part, press seam allowances towards the center, serge.
- Stitch the upper and lower back parts, press seam allowances upwards, serge.
- Stitch the princess seams of the upper front part, press seam allowances towards the center, serge.
- Serge the upper pocket allowance, press to the wrong side and topstitch. Serge the pocket edges, press seam allowances to the wrong side. Place pockets according to markings on the lower front part and topstitch.
- Stitch the upper and lower front parts, press seam allowances upwards, serge.
- Stitch the side seams of the garment, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
- Fold the strap in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch along the long edge. Turn the piece right side out, straighten and press.
- Stitch the side edges of the facings, press seam allowances open. Serge the outer edge. Attach the front facings to the self-fabric placket of the front, serge seam allowances, simultaneously serging the inner edge of the placket. Place the facing on the garment right side down and stitch the upper edge, inserting the strap between the pieces at the front. Clip seam allowances, turn the facing to the wrong side and press. Secure the facing to the main garment at the side seams.
- Serge the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
- Make buttonholes on the right front, sew buttons on the left front.
- Put on the sundress, adjust the length of the straps. Serge the lower edges and secure them to the back.
