Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers with added elastane. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; concealed zipper; 5 buttons; one inner button; decorative buckle. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical details).

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    • Back - 2 pieces
    • Right front - 1 piece
    • Left front - 1 piece
    • Waistband - 1 piece on fold
    • Right front facing - 1 piece
    • Left front facing - 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing - 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Left front facing - 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing - 2 pieces
    • Right front facing - 1 piece
    • Waistband - 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH! ATTENTION! MARKINGS ON THE PATTERNS ARE MADE ON THE RIGHT SIDE.

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch darts on back pieces, press allowances towards the center. Overlock back center edges separately. Stitch back center seam from zipper mark to bottom. Press allowances open. Insert concealed zipper.
  3. Stitch bust darts on front piece. Press bust dart allowances upwards. Stitch waist darts on front piece, press allowances towards the center.
  4. Stitch shoulder seams. Press allowances towards the back and overlock.
  5. Stitch shoulder seams of back neckline facing, front facing, and front placket, press allowances open. Overlock outer edges. Place facings onto the garment right sides together and stitch neckline and front edge. Clip allowances, turn facings to the wrong side, straighten, and press. Overlock inner edge of left front simultaneously with facing edge. Overlock inner buttonhole. Hand stitch facings to shoulder seams and zipper tape.
  6. Overlock bottom edge of right front. Press allowances to the wrong side and topstitch.
  7. Overlock bottom edge of left front. Press allowances to the wrong side and topstitch.
  8. Overlap right front piece onto left, aligning at the center line. Secure fronts at the side seam. Sew buttons according to markings, securing fronts together.
  9. Cut (if not ready-made) bias binding 4 cm wide and length equal to armhole length + 4cm. Fold bias binding in half lengthwise right side out and press. Place binding onto armhole edge right side up and stitch. Clip allowances. Fold binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press seam.
  10. Stitch side seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
  11. Overlock bottom edge of back. Fold allowance inwards and topstitch.
  12. Fold waistband piece right sides together and stitch long and one short edge. Trim allowances at corners, turn waistband right side out and press. Thread buckle and secure it by folding the unstitched section of the waistband.
  13. Sew inner button.
