Sheath Dress with Eyelet Yoke and Tab Sleeves

Fabric recommendations: knit fabric with low stretch from natural or blended fibers in contrasting or analogous colors. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; concealed zipper; 6 eyelets; 2 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for the dress bottom, sleeve bottom, and lower edge of the sleeve tab — 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

• From main fabric:
  • Back - 2 pieces
  • Center front - 1 piece on fold
  • Side front - 2 pieces
  • Front neckline facing — 2 pieces
  • Back neckline facing — 4 pieces
  • Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • Sleeve tab – 2 pieces
  • Pocket bag — 4 pieces
• From main fabric 1:
  • Front yoke - 1 piece
  • Sleeve – 2 pieces
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Front neckline facing — 1 piece
  • Back neckline facing — 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

1. Fuse interfacing to relevant pieces.
2. Stitch darts on back pieces, press seam allowances towards the center.
3. Attach outer back neckline facing to the back, press seam allowances towards the facing.
4. Serge the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom, press seam allowances open. Insert the zipper.
5. Stitch the front princess seams, press seam allowances towards the center and serge. Attach the yoke to the front, press seam allowances towards the yoke and serge. Attach the outer front neckline facing to the front, press seam allowances towards the facing.
6. Stitch the shoulder seams of the garment, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
7. Attach pocket bags to the front and back, serge seam allowances. Stitch side seams simultaneously with pocket bag edges, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
8. Stitch the shoulder seams of the neckline facings, press seam allowances open. Serge the outer edge. Place the facing on the garment right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Clip seam allowances, turn the facing to the wrong side and press. Secure the facing to the main garment at the shoulder seams and zipper tape. Punch eyelets on the front neckline facing.
9. Stitch the sleeve seam, press seam allowances towards the back and serge. Set sleeves into armholes, press seam allowances and serge.
10. Serge the bottom edge of the garment and sleeves, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
11. Fold the tab lengthwise in half right sides together and stitch the long side and corner. Trim seam allowances, turn the tab right side out and press. Serge the raw edge, align with the sleeve allowance and topstitch. Fold the tab to the right side and secure to the sleeve with a button.
12. Cut 2 bias strips for ties from the main fabric, 4 cm wide and 40 cm long. Fold the strip lengthwise in half and press. Press outer seam allowances towards the center, topstitch along the edge. Thread ties through eyelets and secure at shoulder seams.
