Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: blouse fabrics made from natural or blended fibers, silk. ALSO NEEDED: fusible interfacing; 4 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back - 1 piece on fold
    • Front - 2 pieces
    • Bottom placket - 2 pieces on fold
    • Collar - 2 pieces
    • Collar stand - 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Collar - 1 piece
    • Collar stand - 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the relevant pieces. Fuse the integrated front placket.
  2. Turn the inner part of the placket along the edge line to the wrong side and topstitch, folding the seam allowance inwards.
  3. Stitch the bust darts on the front. Press the bust dart allowances upwards.
  4. Stitch the shoulder seams. Press the allowances towards the back and overcast.
  5. Place the collar pieces right sides together, stitch the ends and the outer edge. Trim the seam allowances at the corners. Turn the collar right side out, shape and press. Place the collar stand pieces right sides together, insert the prepared collar between them and stitch, simultaneously stitching the ends of the collar stand. Start and end the stitching strictly at the marked collar attachment line. Trim the seam allowances at the curves. Turn the finished collar stand right side out and press.
  6. Attach the upper collar stand to the neckline, fold under the raw edge of the lower collar stand and topstitch into the seam of the upper collar stand attachment.
  7. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 5cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Clip the seam allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam.
  8. Stitch the side seams. Press the allowances towards the back and overcast.
  9. Place the plackets right sides together and stitch the bottom and short sides. Trim the seam allowances at the corners, turn right side out and press. Along the bottom edge of the blouse, sew a gathering stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the upper placket to the bottom of the blouse. Fold the seam allowance of the lower placket inwards and topstitch into the attachment seam.
  10. Overcast buttonholes and sew buttons onto the front pieces.
