Fabric recommendations: dense dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers, denim fabrics. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 9 buttons.
CUTTER'S MUST
IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 4.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!
- From main fabric:
- Center back – 2 pieces
- Side back – 2 pieces
- Lower back – 1 piece on fold
- Side front – 2 pieces
- Middle front – 2 pieces
- Center front – 4 pieces
- Lower front – 2 pieces
- Under collar - 1 piece
- Upper collar – 1 piece
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
- Back armhole facing – 2 pieces
- Front armhole facing – 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Center front – 4 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
- Upper collar - 1 piece
- Back armhole facing – 2 pieces
- Front armhole facing – 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
- Interface pieces with fusible interfacing.
- Stitch the center back seam, press seam allowances to the left, serge. Topstitch along the seam at 0.7 cm. Stitch the back princess seams, press seam allowances towards the center, serge. Topstitch along the seam at 0.7 cm.
- Along the upper edge of the lower back, stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Stitch the upper and lower back pieces, press seam allowances upwards, serge. Topstitch along the seam at 0.7 cm.
- Stitch the front princess seams, press seam allowances towards the center, serge. Topstitch along the seam at 0.7 cm.
- Along the upper edge of the lower front, stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Stitch the upper and lower front pieces, press seam allowances upwards, serge. Topstitch along the seam at 0.7 cm.
- Attach the center front piece to the front, press seam allowances towards the center front.
- Stitch shoulder and side seams, press seam allowances towards the back, serge.
- Place the upper collar on the under collar, right sides together, and stitch along the ends and outer edge. Start and end stitching strictly at the marked line of the collar attachment seam. Trim seams at corners, clip at notch. Turn collar right side out, shape, and press.
- Stitch and press open the shoulder seams of the back neckline facing and the inner parts of the center front (hereinafter referred to as facings). Serge the outer edge. Place the facings on the right side of the front, right side down, pin, and stitch along the front edge. Stitch upwards to the notch indicating the end of the collar attachment. Trim seams at corners. Topstitch the seam allowance of the front edge: in the button placket area – to the facing, in the lapel area – to the front piece. Stitch at 0.2 cm from the seam. Turn the front edges right side out, shape the seams.
- Attach the under collar to the garment neckline, and the upper collar to the neckline edge of the back facing and facings. Press open the collar attachment seam allowances and secure close to the seams. Topstitch along the edge of the front placket and collar and along the seam attaching the center front piece, securing the facing to the main piece.
- Stitch shoulder and side edges of the front and back armhole facings, press seam allowances open. Serge the outer edge. Place the facings on the garment, right sides together, and stitch the armhole edge, clip seam allowances, turn facing to the wrong side, shape, press. Topstitch with a double topstitch to the main garment.
- Serge the hem allowance, press to the wrong side, and topstitch with a double stitch.
- On the right front, make buttonholes, on the left front, sew on buttons. Tip: the dress can be worn with a belt.
