Introducing a women's sewing pattern for a chic knit dress featuring short cut-in-one sleeves, a sweeping curved front seam, and a fashionable asymmetrical pointed hem.
This versatile dress is designed for comfort and style, making it an ideal choice for:
Silhouette: a fitted bodice that subtly skims the figure before flowing into a flared, asymmetrical skirt.
Neckline: a graceful boat neckline finished with facings.
Closure: Pullover style with no fastenings.
Sleeves: Short cap sleeves cut in one with the front and back.
Back: a center back seam and back darts for a refined fit.
Front: Front darts shape the bodice; a curved seam sweeps from the waist down across the skirt, joining the flared Insert.
Hem: The Insert creates an asymmetrical hemline that drops to a point, for graceful movement.
Intermediate. Requires confident handling of knit fabrics, curved seams, dart construction, and precise neck facing application.
Choose well-draping knit fabrics with medium to high stretch:
If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, the patterns are without seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for sleeve bottom – 1.5 cm; hem allowance for garment bottom – 2 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match! Note: Markings on patterns are made on the right side.
Tip: Knit pieces are stitched with a special stretch stitch or a narrow zigzag. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.
