Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: blouse fabrics made of natural or blended fibers in two matching colors. YOU ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 9 buttons. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: Hem allowance – 2 cm; other seams – 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

  • Central front part – 4 pieces
  • Collar — 2 pieces
  • Collar stand – 2 pieces
  • Cuff – 2 pieces
  • Sleeve insert – 2 pieces
  • Back yoke – 1 piece
• From fusible interfacing:
  • Collar — 1 piece
  • Collar stand – 1 piece
  • Cuff – 2 pieces
  • Front placket – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
2. Stitch back darts, press allowances towards the center. Stitch the center back seam. Overlock the allowance and press to the left side. Attach the yoke to the back. Overlock allowances and press downwards.
3. Stitch front darts. Press allowances upwards.
4. Fold the central front pieces right sides together and stitch the placket edge. Turn the inner pieces to the wrong side and press the placket edge. Secure the pieces along the princess seams and armhole edges.
5. Stitch the front and the central front piece. Overlock allowances and press towards the center.
6. Stitch side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
7. Fold the upper collar with the undercollar right sides together, stitch the ends and the outer edge of the collar. Trim seams, turn the collar right side out, shape and press. Fold collar stand pieces right sides together, insert the finished collar between them, align notches and stitch, simultaneously stitching the ends of the collar stand. Start and end the stitching precisely at the marked line of the collar stand attachment seam. Turn the finished collar stand right side out and press. Attach the upper collar stand with the collar to the neckline, fold the open edge of the lower collar stand inwards and topstitch into the seam of the upper collar stand attachment.
8. Attach the sleeve insert to the front and back sleeve parts, press allowances towards the insert and overlock.
9. Make a slit on the sleeve along the marked line. Cut a bias binding from the main fabric, 4 cm wide and a length equal to twice the slit length + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise and press. Press the outer allowances towards the center. Finish the sleeve slit with bias binding. Form and secure the pleat on the sleeve. The depth is directed away from the closure.
10. Stitch the sleeve seam. Overlock allowances and press towards the back.
11. Fold cuff pieces in half lengthwise right sides together and stitch the side edges. Start and end the stitching precisely at the marked line of the cuff attachment seam. Turn the piece right side out, press. Attach the outer side of the cuff to the sleeve, fold the allowance of the inner side of the cuff inwards and topstitch into the seam of the outer cuff attachment.
12. Set sleeves into armholes, press allowances and overlock.
13. Fold the hem of the garment inwards by 1 cm, then another 1 cm and topstitch.
14. On the right front, make buttonholes, on the left – sew on buttons. Make buttonholes and sew on buttons on the cuffs and collar stand.
