FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: blouse fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 7 buttons.
CUTTER'S MUST
SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 2.5 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!
- From main fabric:
- Back – 1 piece on fold
- Front – 2 pieces
- Sleeve – 2 pieces
- Cuff – 2 pieces
- Front facing – 2 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
- From fusible interfacing:
- Cuff – 2 pieces
- Front facing – 2 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
- On the shoulder edges of the front, create and secure pleats (depths directed away from the center). Stitch the shoulder edges, press towards the back, serge.
- Stitch the collar stand seam, press allowances open. Attach the collar stand to the neckline, clipping at the corners, press allowances towards the collar stand.
- Stitch the front facing collar stand seam, press allowances open. Stitch the shoulder edges of the back neckline facing and front facings, press allowances open. Serge the outer edge. Attach the collar stand to the front facing and neckline facing, press allowances upwards. Place the front facings with the garment right sides together and stitch the edges of the fronts and collar stand. Clip allowances at curves, turn the front facings and facing to the wrong side and press. Secure the collar stand attachment seams together. Secure the shoulder seams of the front facing to the shoulder seams of the garment.
- Stitch the side edges, press allowances towards the back, serge.
- Serge the sleeve edges separately. Stitch the sleeve seam from the armhole to the slit mark, press allowances open. Topstitch the slit 0.1 cm from the fold. Along the lower edge of the sleeve, sew a gathering stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the sleeves to the armholes, press allowances and serge.
- Fold the cuff pieces in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the side edges. Start and end the stitch precisely at the marked seam line for attaching the cuff. Turn the piece right side out, press. Attach the outer side of the cuff to the sleeve, fold the allowance of the inner side of the cuff inwards and topstitch into the seam of attaching the outer cuff.
- Press the bottom edge of the garment to the wrong side by 1 cm, then by 1.5 cm and topstitch.
- Make buttonholes on the right front, sew buttons on the left front. Make buttonholes and sew buttons on the cuffs.
