FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: blouse fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 6 buttons.
CUTTER'S MUST
SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 1.5 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!
- From main fabric:
- Back – 1 piece on fold
- Front – 1 piece on fold
- Collar stand – 2 pieces
- Front neckline facing – 1 piece on fold
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
- From fusible interfacing:
- Collar stand - 1 piece
- Front neckline facing – 1 piece on fold
- Back neckline facing – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
- Stitch the outer collar stand to the back neckline, press seam allowances upwards.
- On the front shoulder edges, create and secure pleats (depths directed towards the center). Stitch shoulder seams, clip seam allowances at curves, press towards the back, overcast.
- Stitch the inner collar stand to the back facing neckline, press seam allowances upwards. Stitch shoulder seams of neckline facings, clip and press open seam allowances. Overcast the outer edge. Place facings right sides together with the main garment and stitch the front neckline and collar stand. Trim front neckline seam allowances to 1 cm, tapering to nothing at the mark, clip at curves. Turn facings to the wrong side, press, secure to shoulder seams. Secure the collar stand attachment seams together.
- Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 4cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Clip seam allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
- Stitch side seams, press seam allowances towards the back, overcast.
- Overcast the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
- Sew decorative buttons onto the front.
