Fabric Recommendations

For a beautiful drape and comfortable wear, suitable fabrics include:

  • Blouse fabrics made from natural or blended fibers

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing
  • 6 decorative buttons
  • Bias binding for the armholes (optional – can be cut from the main fabric)

Cutter's Must

Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 1.5 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece (cut on fold)
    • Front – 1 piece (cut on fold)
    • Stand Collar – 2 pieces
    • Front Neckline Facing – 1 piece (cut on fold)
    • Back Neckline Facing – 1 piece
    • Armhole binding – 2 bias strips, 4 cm wide, armhole length + 4 cm (cut by measurement, if not using ready-made binding)
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Stand Collar – 1 piece
    • Front Neckline Facing – 1 piece (cut on fold)
    • Back Neckline Facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the Stand Collar and neckline facings.
  2. Stitch the outer Stand Collar to the back neckline, press seam allowances upwards.
  3. On the front shoulder edges, fold and secure the pleats (folded towards the center). Stitch the shoulder seams, clip seam allowances at the curve, press towards the back and overlock.
  4. Stitch the inner Stand Collar to the neckline of the Back Neckline Facing, press seam allowances upwards. Stitch the shoulder seams of the facings, clip and press the seam allowances open. Overlock the outer edge of the facings. Place the facings on the garment right sides together and stitch around the front neckline and the Stand Collar. Trim the front neckline seam allowances to 1 cm, tapering to nothing at the mark, and clip at the curves. Turn the facings to the wrong side, press and tack them to the shoulder seams. Tack the collar attachment seams together.
  5. Cut (if not ready-made) bias binding 4 cm wide and equal to the armhole length + 4 cm. Fold the binding in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, and press. Place it on the right side of the armhole, raw edges aligned, and stitch. Clip the seam allowances. Turn the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the garment. Press the seam.
  6. Stitch the side seams, press seam allowances towards the back, overlock.
  7. Overlock the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  8. Sew the decorative buttons onto the front.
