Fitted Collared Dress With Princess Seams

Pattern #2585
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: Dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. ALSO NEEDED: fusible interlining, concealed zipper. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THE PATTERNS INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES; IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance - 2.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interlining to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch the center back seam. Overlock the allowances and press them to the left side.
  3. Stitch the back princess seams. Overlock the allowances and press them towards the center.
  4. Attach the yoke to the back at the shoulder seam. Overlock the allowance and press it towards the back.
  5. Fold the collars right sides together and stitch along the corners and outer edge. The lapel line remains unstitched. Trim the allowances at the corners. Turn right side out, press.
  6. Set the outer collar into the neckline. Fold the allowance of the inner collar inwards and topstitch into the seam. Secure the collar to the yoke along the lapel line.
  7. Stitch the front princess seams. Overlock the allowances and press them towards the center.
  8. Overlock the outer edge of the front neckline facing. Place the front neckline facing onto the front and stitch the neckline. Clip the allowances, turn the facing to the wrong side and press. Attach the front yoke to the front, enclosing the allowances with the facing. Overlock the allowance and press it towards the front.
  9. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch, then fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece.
  10. Stitch the right side seam. Overlock the allowances and press them towards the back. Overlock the left side seams separately. Stitch from the armhole to the zipper mark and from the zipper mark to the hem. Press open the allowances, pressing the opening for the zipper. Insert the concealed zipper.
  11. Overlock the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
