Stand Collar Asymmetrical Gathered Midi Dress

Pattern #2503
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers with elastane. YOU ALSO NEED: knit fusible interfacing; concealed zipper. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance – 2.0 cm; sleeve hem allowance – 2.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  1. Interface pieces with fusible interfacing.
  2. Along the upper edge of the lower front, stitch with a loosened upper thread from the side seam to the mark. Gather the fabric. Stitch the princess seam of the front. Overlock the allowance and press it towards the upper front.
  3. Stitch the shoulder and side seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
  4. Attach the outer collar stand to the dress neckline. Press the allowance towards the collar stand. Fold the allowance of the inner collar stand inwards and topstitch into the seam of the outer collar stand attachment.
  5. Overlock the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom, press allowances open, pressing the slit for the zipper. Insert the zipper from the top of the collar stand to the mark.
  6. Stitch the sleeve seam, press allowances towards the back and overlock. Set sleeves into armholes, press allowances and overlock.
  7. Overlock the bottom edge of the garment and sleeves, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
