Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: Dress fabrics of contrasting or related colors made from natural or blended fibers. Also needed: fusible interfacing, concealed zipper.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance - 2.0 cm; sleeve hem allowance - 1.5 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

  • From main fabric:
    • Back - 2 pieces
    • Upper left front - 1 piece
    • Upper right front - 1 piece
    • Lower left front - 1 piece
    • Lower right front – 1 piece
    • Front neckline facing — 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
    • Upper sleeve — 2 pieces
  • From main fabric 1:
    • Lower sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Left placket – 1 piece
    • Right placket – 1 piece
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Front neckline facing — 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH! ATTENTION! MARKINGS ON PATTERNS ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE!

  1. Interface facing pieces with fusible interfacing.
  2. Stitch waist darts on the back, press allowances towards the center.
  3. Serge back center edges separately. Stitch the back center seam from the zipper mark to the bottom, press allowances open, pressing the zipper opening. Insert the zipper.
  4. Stitch darts on the upper parts of the dress. Press allowances upwards. Stitch the left and right upper parts. Press allowance towards the left part and serge. Topstitch along the seam at 0.5 cm.
  5. Fold the right placket lengthwise right sides together and stitch the bottom edge. Trim allowance at the corner. Turn the placket right side out, press the bottom edge and fold. Topstitch along the fold with main fabric thread at 0.5 cm. Attach the placket to the right lower part of the dress. Serge allowance and press towards the lower part of the dress. Process the left lower part similarly. Lay the right lower placket over the left right sides up and secure at the top edge.
  6. Attach the lower parts of the dress to the upper parts. Serge allowance and press upwards. Topstitch along the seam at 0.5 cm.
  7. Stitch side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and serge.
  8. Stitch shoulder seams of neckline facings, serge outer edge. Place facing and garment right sides together and stitch neckline edge. Clip allowances at curves, turn facing to the wrong side, straighten and press. Secure facing to shoulder seams and zipper tape.
  9. Stitch upper and lower sleeve parts. Serge allowance and press upwards. Topstitch with main fabric thread 0.5 cm from the seam. Stitch sleeve edge, press allowances and serge. Set sleeves into armholes, matching notches. Press allowances and serge.
  10. Serge bottom edge of garment and sleeves, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
