Tech. Description

Pearl Embellished Flutter Sleeve Dress

A women's above-knee dress with a waist seam and a slightly flared skirt, a fitted bodice with panel seams, and self-faced front and back yokes whose shaped edges form short cap sleeves. The yokes are joined at the shoulders by 24 beads, which also trim the curved front yoke seam.

When To Wear

  • For summer parties, weddings and other daytime celebrations.
  • For warm-weather evenings, with a light jacket or wrap over it.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted bodice, seamed at the natural waist, with a skirt that flares slightly to the hem.

Length: Above the knee.

Neckline: Round neckline, faced as part of the doubled yokes.

Sleeves: Short cap sleeves cut in one with the yokes. Each yoke is cut double and stitched around the shaped sleeve edge, shoulder and neckline, then turned. The armhole of the bodice below is finished with a 4 cm bias binding.

Front: Upper front cut on the fold with a dart, joined to side front panels; the yoke seam curves over the bust and carries a row of beads.

Back: Upper back with side back panels and a curved yoke seam; centre back seam with a concealed zip from the neck.

Skirt: Lower front cut on the fold, lower back in two pieces, joined to the bodice at the waist.

Finishing: The front and back yokes are not sewn at the shoulder: their finished edges are butted together and held by beads. Hem turned up 2 cm and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Self-faced yokes with clipped curves, a curved yoke seam joined to panelled bodices, bias-bound armholes, a concealed zip and hand-sewn beads joining the shoulders.
