Tech. Description

Short Sleeve Asymmetrical Flap Wrap Dress

A fitted women's knee-length dress with a waist seam, princess seams in the bodice and skirt, and short set-in sleeves. The front skirt is two lower front pieces overlapping on the diagonal, with a separate lined flap laid over the right front at the waist.

When To Wear

  • At the office or for business meetings in spring and summer.
  • For daytime events and dinners, with pumps and a clutch.
  • In cooler weather under a jacket or cardigan.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted, with a seam at the waist.

Length: Knee length.

Neckline: Round, finished by stitching the lining to the neck edge.

Sleeves: Short, set-in, one-piece, hemmed with blind stitches.

Front: Bodice with a centre front panel and two side fronts joined by princess seams. The skirt has right and left lower fronts with faced bias edges: the right overlaps the left on the diagonal and is topstitched to it along a marked line, leaving a wrap opening at the hem. An asymmetrical flap, faced on its bias and lower edges, sits over the right front and is caught into the waist seam.

Back: Centre back seam with princess seams in the bodice and skirt.

Closure: Concealed zipper in the centre back seam.

Finishing: Neckline and bias edges of the lower fronts interfaced; dress and sleeve hems blind-stitched.

Lining: Bodice, lower fronts, lower back and flap are lined; the sleeves are not.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Princess seams, a lined bodice and skirt, faced diagonal overlaps assembled at the waist, a concealed zipper and set-in sleeves.

Fabric Recommendations

Dress fabrics of natural or blended fibres.
