Dress With Neckline And Armhole Flounces

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: well-draping dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. ALSO NEEDED: 2 buttons. If the patterns have a double contour, they include SEAM ALLOWANCES. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for the dress bottom – 1.2 cm. ATTENTION! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

When stitching pieces, pay attention to the NOTCHES - they must match!

• From main fabric:
  • Yoke – 1 piece
  • Upper back part – 1 piece with fold
  • Lower back part – 1 piece with fold
  • Back ruffle – 1 piece with fold
  • Upper front part – 2 pieces
  • Lower front part – 2 pieces
  • Front ruffle – 2 pieces
  • Armhole flounce – 2 pieces
  • Neckline flounce – 1 piece
  • Belt – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

1. Along the upper edge of the upper back part, stitch with a loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the yoke to the back, press seam allowances upwards and overcast.
2. Along the upper edge of the upper front part, stitch with a loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the yoke to the front, press seam allowances upwards and overcast.
3. Overcast the outer and short edges of the neckline flounce, press to the wrong side and topstitch. (Alternatively, they can be finished with a narrow rolled hem, after trimming the seam allowance). Along the inner edge of the neckline flounce, stitch with a loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the flounce to the back and front neckline (the flounce is shorter by the width of the waist allowances), press seam allowances towards the main garment and overcast. Topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam.
4. Overcast the outer edge of the armhole flounce, press to the wrong side and topstitch. (Alternatively, it can be finished with a narrow rolled hem, after trimming the seam allowance). Along the inner edge of the armhole flounce, stitch with a loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the flounce to the back and front armhole, press seam allowances towards the main garment and overcast. Topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam.
5. Stitch the upper and lower back parts together, press seam allowances upwards and overcast. Along the upper edge of the back ruffle, stitch with a loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the back ruffle to the lower back part, press seam allowances upwards and overcast.
6. Stitch the upper and lower front parts together, press seam allowances upwards and overcast. Overcast the upper edge of the front ruffle, press to the wrong side and topstitch. Along the inner edge of the front ruffle, stitch with a loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the front ruffle to the lower front part (the ruffle is shorter by the width of the waist allowance), press seam allowances upwards and overcast.
7. Stitch the side edges, press seam allowances towards the back and overcast.
8. Overcast the hem allowance of the garment bottom, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
9. Overcast buttonholes on the front. Sew on the outer and inner buttons.
10. Fold the belt lengthwise in half, right sides together, and stitch, leaving an opening on the long side for turning. Turn the belt right side out, straighten, and press. Sew the opening closed. Determine the center of the belt, place it on the right side seam and topstitch.
