Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: low-stretch knit fabric made of natural or blended fibers. High-stretch knit fabric made of natural or blended fibers for cuffs and collar stand. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: decorative braid (approximate length indicated on the front pattern piece).

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for the dress bottom and the top edge of the pocket – 2.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • Sleeve - 2 pieces
  • Pocket - 2 pieces
• From main fabric 1:
  • Cuff – 2 pieces
  • Collar stand – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.

1. Stitch darts on back and front pieces. Press waist dart depths towards the center, bust darts upwards.
2. Stitch the center back seam, press seam allowances to the left side and serge.
3. Stitch the center front seam, inserting decorative braid between the pieces, press seam allowances to the left side and serge.
4. Serge pockets along the contour. Press the top pocket allowance to the wrong side and topstitch. Press side and bottom allowances to the wrong side. Topstitch pockets onto the front according to markings, inserting decorative braid between the pieces.
5. Stitch side and shoulder seams, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
6. Stitch the collar stand into a loop, press seam allowances open. Fold the collar stand lengthwise in half, right side out, and press. Attach the collar stand to the neckline, stretching slightly. Press and serge seam allowances.
7. Stitch the sleeve seam, press seam allowances towards the back and serge. Set sleeves into armholes, matching notches, press and serge seam allowances.
8. Stitch the cuff into a loop, press seam allowances open. Fold the cuff lengthwise in half, right side out, and press. Attach the cuff to the bottom of the sleeve, stretching slightly. Press and serge seam allowances.
9. Serge the hem allowance of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch. Tip: ready-made ribbing can be used for finishing the neckline and sleeve hems.
