Asymmetrical Color Block Knit Tunic

Pattern #2229
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: medium-stretch knit fabric made of natural or blended fibers in three coordinating colors. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for blouson and sleeve – 1.5 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece on fold
    • Front – 1 piece
    • Left lower front part - 1 piece
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • From main fabric 1:
    • Middle front part – 1 piece
  • From main fabric 2:
    • Right lower front part – 1 piece

Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.

  4. Attach the middle front part to the lower part. Serge the allowance and press up.
  5. Stitch the right shoulder seam. Serge the allowance and press towards the back.

Place the binding along the neckline edge, right side, and stitch, clip allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  7. Stitch the left shoulder seam. Serge the allowance and press towards the back.
  8. Serge the bottom edge of the back, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
