Cutter's Must
When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
- From main fabric:
- Upper back – 2 pieces
- Back insert – 2 pieces
- Lower back - 2 pieces
- Lower front – 1 piece on fold
- Front insert – 1 piece
- Upper front – 1 piece
- Sleeve – 2 pieces
- Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
- Front neckline facing – 1 piece
- From fusible interfacing:
- Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
- Front neckline facing – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
- Stitch darts on the upper back pieces, press dart allowances towards the center of the pieces. Attach the back insert to the upper back, press allowances towards the insert and serge.
- Along the upper edge of the lower back piece, stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the lower back to the back insert, press allowances upwards and serge.
- Serge the center back edge separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom, press allowances open. Insert the concealed zipper.
- Stitch darts on the upper front pieces. Press waist dart allowances towards the center of the pieces, bust darts upwards. Attach the front insert to the upper front, press allowances towards the insert and serge.
- Along the upper edge of the lower front piece, stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Attach the lower front to the front insert, press allowances upwards and serge.
- Stitch side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and serge.
- Stitch shoulder seams of neckline facings, press allowances open. Serge the outer edge. Place the facing on the garment right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Turn the facing to the wrong side, smooth, and press. Secure the facing to the main garment at the shoulder seams and center back seam.
- Stitch the sleeve seam, press allowances towards the back and serge. Set sleeves into armholes, matching notches, press allowances and serge.
- Serge the bottom edge of the garment and sleeve, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
