Cutter's Must
When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
- From main fabric:
- Center back – 2 pieces
- Back side – 2 pieces
- Lower back – 2 pieces
- Center front – 1 piece
- Front side – 2 pieces
- Lower front – 2 pieces
- Sleeve – 2 pieces
- Front neckline facing – 1 piece
- Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
- From fusible interlining:
- Front neckline facing – 1 piece
- Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse the interlining to the designated pieces.
- Stitch the inner edges of the front pleats. Overlock and press the seam allowances. Clip the allowance at the corner and form the pleat, with the depth directed towards the center. Attach the front side to the upper edge of the lower. Overlock the edge, simultaneously overlocking the top of the pleat. Stitch the front princess seam from the armhole to the pleat. Overlock the allowance and press it towards the center. Hand-stitch the top of the pleat to the main piece with blind stitches.
- Process the back similarly. Overlock the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom. Press seam allowances open. Insert the concealed zipper.
- Stitch the side and shoulder seams. Overlock the allowances and press them towards the back.
- Stitch the shoulder seams of the facings. Press seam allowances open. Overlock the outer edge. Place the facing onto the right side of the dress and stitch the neckline. Clip the allowances, turn the facing to the wrong side and press. Secure the facing at the shoulder seams and zipper tape.
- Stitch the sleeve seam. Overlock the allowance and press it towards the back. Set the sleeves into the armholes, press and overlock the allowances.
- Overlock the bottom edge of the garment and sleeves, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
