CUTTER'S MUST
- From main fabric:
- Back – 2 pieces
- Front – 1 piece on fold
- Back sleeve part – 2 pieces
- Front sleeve part – 2 pieces
- Cuff – 2 pieces
Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.
Sewing Instructions
- Stitch the center back seam. Serge the allowance and press it to the left side.
- Stitch the darts on the front pieces. Press the dart folds upwards.
- Serge the armhole allowances of the front and sleeve separately and stitch up to the mark. Press the slit for the zipper. Place the zipper under the slit and stitch. Topstitch a decorative corner onto the zipper.
- Attach the back sleeve parts to the back. Serge the allowances and press them towards the sleeve. Stitch the upper sleeve seam. Serge the allowance.
- Stitch the lower sleeve edges and side seams in one continuous seam. Press and serge the allowances.
- Stitch the center seam of the large neckline facing, serge the allowance and press it open. Serge the outer edge of the large facing. Place the facing onto the neckline right sides together and stitch the back neckline and front neckline up to the zipper. Clip the allowances at the curves, turn the facing to the wrong side and press. Stitch the edges of the facing to the zipper tape. Topstitch along the neckline to secure and finish. Similarly, finish the neckline of the central front part.
- Fold the cuff into a loop and stitch. Fold the cuff in half lengthwise. Attach the cuff to the lower edge of the sleeve. Serge the allowances and press them towards the sleeve.
- Serge the hem allowance, fold it to the wrong side and topstitch.
