CUTTER'S MUST
From main fabric:
- FRONT – 1 piece on fold
- BACK – 2 pieces
- FRONT YOKE – 2 pieces
- COLLAR STAND – 2 pieces
Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker. Before doing this, trim seam allowances to 0.7 cm.
Sewing Instructions
- Stitch bust darts (if provided by size). Press dart depths upwards.
- Stitch the center back seam. Overlock seam allowances and press to the left side.
- Bind the neckline of the front with bias binding. Overlock the upper edges of the front. Bind the lower edges of the front yokes. Place the yokes on the upper edge of the front and topstitch into the binding seam.
- Stitch shoulder and side seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Fold collar stand pieces right sides together and stitch along the upper edge, inserting the buckle closure. Clip allowances at curves, turn right side out and press. Stitch the outer side of the collar stand into the neckline, press allowance towards the collar stand. Fold the allowance of the inner side inwards by 1 cm and topstitch into the attaching seam.
- Cut (or use ready-made) bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 6 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Fold the binding to the wrong side, clip allowances, and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam.
- Overlock the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
