Fabric & Materials
Fabric recommendations: thin dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers, for example, crepe-chiffon. Finishing fabric for the neckline facing. Also needed: lining fabric; invisible zipper; fusible interfacing; 1 button.
CUTTER'S MUST
If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm, hem allowance – 3 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
- From main fabric:
- Back - 2 pieces
- Side front - 2 pieces
- Center front – 1 piece
- Facing - 2 pieces
- From lining fabric:
- Back - 2 pieces
- Side front - 2 pieces
- Center front – 1 piece
- From fusible interfacing:
- Facing – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Reinforce the upper facing piece with fusible interfacing.
- Stitch darts on the back and princess seams on the front, press dart depths and allowances towards the center of the pieces.
- Overcast the center back seam. Insert the invisible zipper from the top edge to the notch. Fold back the lower part of the zipper and stitch the center back seam from the notch downwards. Press seam allowances open.
- Stitch side seams, press allowances towards the back.
- Process lining pieces similarly to main fabric pieces. Place lining and garment right sides together and stitch the upper back edge and front armhole edge. Turn the garment right side out, baste and press. Secure the lining to the main fabric along the shaped neckline. Attach the center back seam to the zipper tape.
- Place facing pieces right sides together and stitch along the inner edge, simultaneously stitching the side edges of the facing. Trim allowances. Turn the piece right side out and press. Press the lower edges inwards. Stitch the upper facing to the front according to markings. Stitch the lower facing to the edge of the upper facing. Press the pieces.
- Press the hem allowance of the dress and lining to the wrong side, fold inwards and topstitch.
- On the facing, overcast a buttonhole and sew on a button.
