Halter Dress with Draped Cowl Collar

Pattern #2026
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. Also needed: lining fabric; invisible zipper.

CUTTER'S MUST

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for the dress bottom – 2.5 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  • From main fabric:
    • Upper back part - 2 pieces
    • Back skirt panel - 1 piece
    • Upper front part – 1 piece
    • Front skirt panel – 1 piece
    • Collar - 1 piece
  • From lining fabric:
    • Upper back part - 2 pieces
    • Upper front part – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch waist and bust darts on back and front pieces. Press waist darts towards the center of the piece, bust darts upwards.
  2. Stitch side seams of the bodice, press allowances open.
  3. Stitch darts and side seams on the lining similarly to the main fabric pieces. Place lining and main fabric right sides together and stitch armhole edges. Turn bodice right side out, baste armholes, press. Secure lining to main fabric along remaining edges and treat as one piece thereafter.
  4. Overcast the center back seam.
  5. Press the collar in half lengthwise, right side out. Attach the outer side of the collar to the bodice according to markings. Press allowances towards the collar, also pressing allowances on open sections.
  6. Insert the zipper from the collar fold to the bottom of the bodice. Press the zipper.
  7. Press the lower edge of the inner collar to the wrong side and topstitch into the attachment seam, simultaneously stitching the free sections of the collar.
  8. Fold and secure the inverted pleat on the front skirt panel. Stitch side seams of the skirt, press allowances towards the back and overcast. Attach the skirt to the bodice, press allowances and overcast. Press the hem allowance of the skirt bottom to the wrong side, fold inwards by 1 cm and topstitch.
