Pattern #5887
Tech. Description

Halter Neck Mini Sundress with Bow Collar

Introducing a dress sewing pattern for a mini halter-neck sundress featuring a gathered neckline, tie collar, and relaxed A-line silhouette — Effortless Summer Style with Refined Feminine Simplicity.

WHEN TO WEAR

This sundress is designed as a versatile warm-weather garment, suitable for:

Summer Holidays & Resort Wear: A lightweight and comfortable dress ideal for vacations, beach destinations, cruises, and relaxed summer outings.

Casual Daywear: Perfect for everyday wear, garden parties, outdoor lunches, and informal gatherings during warmer seasons.

Contemporary Minimalist Styling: An elegant silhouette enhanced by a soft bow collar detail, suitable for women who appreciate clean lines with subtle sophistication.

KEY DESIGN FEATURES

Silhouette: Relaxed A-line silhouette that falls smoothly from the neckline, creating ease of movement and a flattering drape.

Neckline: High halter-style neckline gathered into a collar band, creating soft volume through the upper bodice.

Collar: Integrated collar band designed to tie into a decorative bow at the side of the neck, serving as both a functional and decorative feature.

Construction: Front and back are cut as single pieces, minimizing seam lines and emphasizing the clean, fluid shape of the garment.

Closure: Invisible zipper closure integrated into the garment construction for a neat and professional finish.

Lining: Fully lined front and back panels provide comfort, opacity, and a refined interior finish.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY

Intermediate.

This pattern requires accurate handling of lining construction, neckline gathering, collar attachment, and invisible zipper insertion.

SEAM ALLOWANCES

No seam allowances by default. If the option to add them at €1 is chosen, Standard seam allowances are 1.0 cm, hem allowance – 1.5 cm

Please note:

A single contour on the pattern pieces means no seam allowances are included.

A double contour indicates seam allowances are included.

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS

Choose woven dress fabrics that provide light structure and comfortable drape:

  • Cotton dress fabrics
  • Linen and linen-blend fabrics
  • Viscose fabrics
  • Lightweight blended dress fabrics

These materials maintain the clean silhouette while allowing the neckline gathers and bow detail to drape attractively.

ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES

  • Invisible zipper
  • Lining fabric

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Before cutting your fabric, print and lay out the paper patterns according to your fabric width (90–150 cm) to determine required yardage. Remember to account for paired and symmetrical pieces.

When sewing, pay close attention to all notches — they must match precisely to ensure correct construction and fit.
