Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the main-fabric facing.
  2. Stitch the panel seams of the front and back, press the seam allowances towards the center, overlock and topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam.
  3. Overlock the armhole edges of the back and front, press to the wrong side and topstitch 0.5 cm from the edge.
  4. Stitch the trim-fabric facing to the upper edge of the back (right side of the facing to the wrong side of the dress, so that it turns out to the right side), clip the seam allowances and press towards the facing.
  5. Overlock the center back edges. Insert the zipper from the upper edge to the notch. Fold back the lower end of the zipper and stitch the center back seam from the notch downwards. Press the seam allowances open.
  6. Stitch the trim-fabric facing to the upper edge of the front, clip the seam allowances and press towards the facing. Press the remaining unfinished lower edge of the facing to the wrong side.
  7. Place the two facings right sides together and stitch along the neckline. Press the seam allowances, clipping them on the curves. Turn the inner (main-fabric) facing to the wrong side, baste and press. Press the lower edge allowance of the inner facing to the wrong side and stitch it in the ditch of the facing attachment seam, at the same time stitching the facings together. Turn under the short edges and secure them to the zipper tape.
  8. Press the Back Placket and Front Placket (hem bands) in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Stitch the Back Placket to the lower edge of the back, press the seam allowances towards the band, overlock and topstitch 0.5 cm from the seam. Stitch the Front Placket to the lower edge of the front in the same way.
  9. Stitch the side seams, press the seam allowances towards the back and overlock. If desired, also topstitch them 0.5 cm from the seam.
