Key Design Features

Silhouette: Semi-fitted, shaped with vertical darts on the fronts and back.

Length: Hip length, hem turned up and topstitched.

Collar: Shirt collar with pointed ends on a separate stand; upper collar and upper stand interfaced, collar edge topstitched.

Front: Two fronts with no buttons. The front edges are faced with interfaced plackets turned to the inside and topstitched, forming a V-opening below the collar. One eyelet on each front edge carries a separate tie, which is knotted at the front and hangs down.

Sleeves: 3/4-length set-in sleeves eased into the armhole, with an opening left in the sleeve seam above the cuff; straight interfaced cuffs with two buttons each.

Back: Centre back seam, with a vertical dart on each side.

Finishing: Shoulder and side seams pressed towards the back and overlocked. The tie is a folded strip stitched on three sides, turned and edgestitched 0.1 cm from the edge.

From fusible interfacing: Placket – 2 pieces, upper Collar – 1 piece, upper Stand Collar – 1 piece, Cuff – 2 pieces.

Sewing Instructions

Fuse interfacing to the plackets, cuffs, upper collar and upper stand collar.
Stitch the darts on the back and front. Press the dart intakes towards the center. Stitch the center back seam. Press the seam allowances to the left and overlock.
Fold the collar pieces right sides together and stitch along the ends and outer edge. Trim the corners and turn the collar right side out. Stitch the stand collar pieces together with the collar sandwiched between them, starting and ending the stitching precisely at the stand attachment line. Turn to the right side, press the finished collar.
Fold the placket with the front right sides together and stitch the front edge. Trim the seam allowances, turn the placket to the wrong side, baste, press. Turn under the free long edge of the placket and topstitch it to the front. Set the eyelets at the markings.
Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the blouse. Press the seams towards the back and overlock.
Stitch the lower stand with the collar to the neckline, turn under the open edge of the upper stand and topstitch it into the attachment seam. Topstitch along the collar.
Overlock the sleeve seam edges. Stitch the sleeve seams, leaving them open from the mark downwards.
Fold the cuffs right sides together and stitch the side edges, trim the seam allowances at the corners and turn to the right side. Press the cuffs. Stitch the outer side of the cuff to the lower edge of the sleeve. Turn under the seam allowance of the inner cuff and topstitch it into the attachment seam.
Set the sleeves into the armholes, easing the cap. Overlock the seam.
Press the hem allowance to the wrong side, turn under and topstitch. Make buttonholes on the cuffs and sew on the buttons.
Fold the tie piece in half lengthwise right sides together and stitch along three sides, leaving an opening for turning. Turn right side out, slipstitch the opening, press and edgestitch 0.1 cm from the edge. Thread the tie through the eyelets.
