Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
    1. Back – 2 qty
    2. Front - 2 qty
    3. Sleeve - 2 qty
    4. Collar – 2 qty
    5. Collar Stand – 2 qty
    6. Placket – 2 qty
    7. Cuff – 2 qty
    8. Tie – 1 qty
  • From fusible interfacing: plackets, upper collar, upper collar stand, cuff.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse the plackets, cuffs, upper collar, and upper collar stand with fusible interfacing.
  2. Stitch the darts on the back and front. Press the dart depths towards the center of the pieces. Stitch the center back seam. Press the seam allowances to the left side and serge.
  3. Fold the collar pieces right sides together and stitch along the ends and outer edge. Trim, turn out the collar corners. Stitch the collar stand pieces together, inserting the collar between them, starting and ending the stitching precisely at the collar stand attachment line. Turn to the right side, press the finished collar.
  4. Fold the placket with the front right sides together and stitch the front edge. Trim the seam allowances, turn the placket to the wrong side, baste, press. Fold the free longitudinal edge of the placket inwards and topstitch onto the front. Punch eyelets according to markings.
  5. Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the blouse. Press the seams towards the back and serge.
  6. Attach the lower collar stand with the collar to the neckline, fold under the open edge of the upper collar stand and topstitch into the seam of the lower collar stand attachment. Topstitch along the collar.
  7. Serge the sleeve edges. Stitch the sleeve seams, leaving the section from the mark downwards unstitched.
  8. Fold the cuffs right sides together and stitch the side edges, trim the seam allowances at the corners and turn to the right side. Press the cuffs. Attach the cuff with the outer side to the bottom of the sleeve. Fold under the seam allowance of the inner cuff and topstitch into the attachment seam.
  9. Set the sleeves into the armholes, easing the cap. Serge the seam.
  10. Press the bottom of the garment to the wrong side, fold under and topstitch. Serge buttonholes on the cuffs and sew on buttons.
  11. Fold the tie piece in half lengthwise right sides together and stitch along three sides, leaving an opening for turning. Turn to the right side, press, topstitch along the edge at 0.1 cm.
