Sewing Instructions
- Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the FRONT FACINGS, BACK NECK FACING, collar stand, COLLAR, upper and lower flaps.
- Fold the COLLAR pieces wrong sides together and secure along the outer edge close to the raw edges with machine stitching. Stitch the collar stands, inserting the COLLAR between them. Turn right side out and press. Finish the collar stand with the COLLAR along the ends and outer edge with BIAS BINDING.
- Fold the upper flap pieces in pairs right sides out and finish the shaped edge with BIAS BINDING. Overlock the straight edge. Overlock a buttonhole according to the markings. Press the upper edge of the upper pocket to the wrong side, turn under and topstitch. Finish the pocket edge with BIAS BINDING. Place the upper pocket onto the FRONT PANEL according to the markings and topstitch. Place the flap right side onto the FRONT PANEL, with the overlocked edge towards the upper edge of the pocket, and topstitch. Fold the flap over the pocket. Sew a button corresponding to the buttonhole. The processing of the lower pocket is similar to the processing of the upper pocket.
- Stitch the center back seam. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES to the left side and overlock.
- Cut four rectangles 4x9 cm from the main fabric. Fuse them with FUSIBLE INTERFACING, overlock around the perimeter. Place them onto the slit markings right side to right side and stitch along the markings. Cut the fabric between the stitches as for a welt pocket. Make diagonal cuts 1-1.5 cm from the short sides. Turn the FACING through the opening to the wrong side, straighten the edges. Topstitch along the edge of the resulting opening to secure.
- Stitch the shoulder seam. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES open and overlock. Place BIAS BINDING over the seam on the right side and topstitch along both sides.
- Baste the COLLAR into the neckline of the cape. Stitch the shoulder seams of the FRONT FACINGS and FACING. Overlock the inner edge. Fold the FRONT FACINGS with the FRONT PANEL right sides together and stitch along the COLLAR insertion line. Fold the FRONT FACINGS to the wrong side, align the edges of the front opening and secure with machine stitching.
- Press the side edge of the garment (which is also the SLEEVE edge) to the wrong side, turn under and topstitch.
- Finish the front opening edge, the lower edge of the FRONT PANEL and BACK PANEL with BIAS BINDING.
- On the right FRONT PANEL, overlock buttonholes; on the left FRONT PANEL, sew on buttons.
TIP: For the belt, you can use either a ready-made one or one made from the main fabric.
