Tech. Description

Sleeveless Panelled Dress

A sleeveless, close-fitting women's dress below the knee, with a scoop neckline cut with a small notch at the centre front, a pointed middle panel under the bust, and front and back skirts each made of three panels joined by asymmetric, partly curved seams. Concealed zip in the left side seam.

When To Wear

  • Office and daytime wear in spring and summer.
  • Dinners and evening events, in a plain fabric that shows the seam lines.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted bodice and a narrow skirt that releases a little flare at the hem through the curved panel seams.

Length: Below the knee.

Neckline: Scoop neckline with wide shoulder straps and a small V-shaped notch at the centre front, finished with a darted, faced corner.

Sleeves: Sleeveless; armholes and neckline finished with an all-in-one facing, understitched 0.2 cm from the seam.

Front: Upper front in two halves with darts and a centre front seam, joined to a two-part middle front panel that ends in a point below the bust. The bodice-to-skirt seam is pressed upwards and topstitched.

Skirt: Front and back skirts each cut as a middle panel and two different side panels (left and right), so the seam lines are asymmetric.

Back: Upper back with a centre back seam and darts, joined to the back skirt along a seam that dips to a point at the centre.

Closure: Concealed zip in the left side seam; the facing edges are stitched to the zip allowances.

Finishing: 3 cm hem turned up and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Advanced. Matching pointed and curved panel seams, a faced neckline notch with a clipped corner, asymmetric left and right pieces and a concealed side zip.

Fabric Recommendations

Fabrics of natural or blended fibres.
